When I write my bra reviews I always like to start with the basics. Just so you have that info upfront.
Brand Name: Curvy Kate
Bra Name: Luxe Strapless Multiway Underwire Bra
Color: Biscotti (also available in black)
Size I ordered: 34E
Sizes Available: 28D-48G (a great range for us big busted ladies!)
Where I ordered it from: Herroom.com
I think the Curvy Kate Strapless Bra is chic. I love the stripes on the band and cute little details like buttons and bows on the front. It's got a very retro look. I give it 2 thumbs up on style!
The bra itself is very soft especially the band. In my notes I described it as 'silky smooth'.
The stitching quality is okay, but maybe not sewn as well as the other 3 strapless bras I reviewed.
The cups are padded with a very thin cushion, but it's more cushioned than the Elomi Strapless bra I reviewed yesterday.
Also, unlike the Elomi bra, these cups are seamed. The construction is very different. You can see it in the next picture.
An important part of a strapless bra is the silicone gripper strip. This is essential for helping to keep the bra in place, especially when a strapless bra is trying to support all the weight we bigger busted ladies tend to throw at it. All 4 of the strapless bras I tried had some variation of a silicone strip.
The silicone strip is kind of like those rubber grippy lines on the bottom of slippers or fuzzy socks that give you traction on hard floors. It gives your bra traction to keep from slipping down your body.
Tip: If you see a strapless bra at the store and it doesn't have a silicone strip don't even bother trying it on. It will slip down your body. It will not stay up. Do not buy it.
The Curvy Kate bra had a silicone strip that ran the bottom length. It also had a silicone strip on the top part of the band, but stopped at the cups.
I found this to be sufficient to hold the bra in place while still allowing the top parts of my breasts to move a bit.
The fit was pretty good! The bra came up high enough on the sides that I didn't have any side spillage like I did with the Elomi.
This bra also gave me a nice round shape. I have written in my notes that the support is 'okay' but not as good as the Wacoal. So I would probably rate it a 7.5 out of 10 for support? Maybe an 8?
It was a comfortable bra. The fabric is smooth and soft. The underwires are well cushioned under a padded seam.
I found myself adjusting this bra more than I would have liked. You know, the whole lift, pull and shimmy routine.
In fact, I accidentally captured my adjustments on camera (twice) by inadvertently pushing my remote button during the 'adjustment dance', if you will.
I did have a bit of trouble keeping the band from wrinkling up which caused me to try to smooth it out by pulling on it. That's what I was doing in the pictures above and you can see the 'wrinkling' in a couple pictures below.
I quite liked the shape this bra gave me. It was an uplifted, round, natural shape.
This bra is cute, supportive and worked well for me and my big bust. There are lots of positive reviews and almost all of them use words like 'supportive', 'perfect', 'awesome'. The nice thing about reviews on herroom is that they include the reviewers' bra size so you can see what other women who wear the same bra size as you are saying about a bra.
The Curvy Kate Strapless Bra is not perfect, but it's worth a shot right? I ordered it from Herroom.com. Check it out.
And also while you're here you should check out my other strapless reviews. I finished one yesterday and have 2 more to go......
